Very excited to preview my forthcoming book which covers travels from Ceuta to Tangier - both current and former 'City States'. The book is going to be a quick off-kilter trip into the dynamics of the European border outpost of Ceuta, taking you through the fortified fences of Fortress Europe and into Northern Morocco. Here, we spend some days exploring the streets and characters of Tangier - once the notorious interzone city, and now one of Morocco's most vibrant and progressive places.
The book has been noted as dark and emotive, and is defiantly anti-border and pro-refugee.
Early 2016 across most digital formats and in paperback.

In The City State ~ Ceuta To Tangier Through Fortress Europe by Eamonn Sheehy.
From an idyllic Archipelago on the Moroccan Mediterranean, 'Summer In The City State' travels the little-known Spanish enclave of Ceuta and on through the borders of Fortress Europe, into the Rif cities of Northern Morocco. The contrast of Ceuta - little Europe in North Africa - with the former City State of a tumult Tangier, is explored in this quirky, lucid and sometimes dark travel novella.
The stories reveal people reduced to a 'half life' in the shadows of metal razor fences, border blockades and stunted movement. The grittiness of the street, the stark barbarism of militarised borders, the naked acceptance of the individual - 'Summer In The City State' is a damning kick against the modern day phenomenon of 'Fortress Europe'.
Eamonn Sheehy - travel writing with a focus on people and culture.
